Always permitted
There are some small alterations that you’re permitted to carry out without asking for permission from us. The work should be carried out by an experienced person using good quality materials but you don’t need to tell us about it before you start.
Not allowed in a new build for 12 months
In new homes the builder is responsible for fixing any problems that occur in the first 12 months after you’ve moved in. There are some alterations that we can’t allow during this period because it would invalidate this arrangement and the builder would no longer be responsible for any repairs. After 12 months you will be able to apply for permission for the alteration.
