We’re digging Platinum Court!

To celebrate the completion of new affordable homes at our Platinum Court development, we recently invited children from nearby Studley Green Primary School in Trowbridge to help plant the final area of landscaping.

The children had previously named the development and made their first visit while the site was under construction, confidently sporting hi-vis jackets and hard hats.

Headteacher Sarah Garbutt said the pupils were delighted to be invited back for a second visit and have completely embraced the opportunity to get involved.

Platinum Court is just a short walk from the school and the pupils have loved being part of the project and seeing the derelict John Bull pub site transformed into family homes. They’ll also be able to see how well their plants are doing every time they walk past!

Paul Walsh, Selwood Housing’s group development director, said involving children from the local community has been hugely enjoyable for Selwood Housing and all the contractors involved in the project.

It was a privilege to welcome the children back to Platinum Court – they did a fantastic job with the planting. On each visit, they’ve challenged us with questions about everything from the building materials used to how much green space is included. The children’s curiosity and enthusiasm have been truly infectious.

Customers have now moved into their new homes at Platinum Court, which provides six homes for social rent and three for shared ownership. All homes are EPC ‘A’ rated and new residents will enjoy the benefits of PV panels, high levels of insulation, air source heat pumps, low energy lighting, smart heating controls, EV charge points, bird boxes and planting to encourage biodiversity.
