Selwood Housing Group, a local housing association based in Wiltshire, has recently celebrated the opening of their new office in Melksham.
The new office which is located on the Bowerhill industrial estate, officially opened to staff on Monday 12 August. The new and larger premises extend to just over 4,700 square feet and will act primarily as a base for Selwood Housing Group’s repairs and maintenance social enterprise, Silcoa.
Chris George, group asset director at Selwood Housing Group said, “Having outgrown our previous location, we’re very pleased to have found a new home in Melksham for Silcoa. The new office not only allows us to continue to provide a repairs and maintenance service to our customers, but also supports us in building on the efficiency of our operations;
the new office location is tailored to our needs, enabling better storage, materials delivery and waste management.
“We were delighted to invite Martin Pain, Melksham Town Councillor and Selwood Housing Group board member, to do the honours of cutting the ribbon and officially open the building for staff. We hope that all staff enjoy working from this new location.”
The Bowerhill industrial estate is located just outside Melksham town centre and was developed from a former Royal Air Force training school which closed in the early 1970s. Its history is remembered in the street names of the estate, which include Avro Way, Falcon Way and Lancaster Road.
Selwood Housing Group employ nearly 300 staff from their offices in Trowbridge and Melksham, around 100 of whom are employees of Silcoa. The Group’s main office will remain situated at the Bryer Ash Business Park in Trowbridge.
