Selwood Housing continues support for Group 5

For over 30 years Group 5, a furniture recycling charity based in Trowbridge, has made a difference in the lives of families and individuals in need. They collect good-quality donated furniture and provide it free of charge to those struggling to afford it.

Group 5 was formed by a church congregation in Trowbridge. They cover five West Wiltshire towns; Trowbridge, Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Westbury and Warminster. In a typical year, the team of dedicated volunteers help to furnish more than 600 homes.

Those struggling to afford furniture can access Group 5’s services via a referral from a trusted organisation. This could include a charity, social worker, health visitor, Citizens Advice Bureau, women’s refuge, council, housing association or other similar organisation.

Selwood Housing continues to support Group 5 with funding from our Stronger Communities Fund to assist with annual running costs. Alongside other funding, Selwood Housing’s investment ensures the charity can continue its valuable work supporting some of our most vulnerable families, alleviating poverty and raising living standards. Selwood Housing is also happy to connect those in need to Group 5’s service.

Do you have good quality furniture you no longer need? Consider donating it to Group 5 and giving it a second life. You can also lend a helping hand by volunteering your time. To donate furniture or volunteer to help, contact them on 01225 764849. Further information can be found on the Group 5 website.
