How to fit a house number
There are two main ways to fit a house number to the front of your home; screw-on or adhesive glue. Read our tips below on how to fit a house number.
Screw on
Step 1: place the house numbers where you want them on your front door. Use a tape measure and pencil to mark the centre point of the door at the height you would like the numbers.
Step 2: if your house is a double or treble digit number, use a spirit level to draw a faint pencil line to ensure the house numbers are straight.
Step 3: place the numbers on the lines you have drawn and mark the screw holes.
Step 4: use a small drill bit to drill holes for the screws.
Step 5: screw the numbers to the door and rub out any remaining pencil lines.
Adhesive
Sticking a number to the front of your home is a very quick and easy way to fit a house number.
Simply mark where you would like the numbers with a pencil, using a tape measure and spirit level to ensure they are straight and central.
Remove the backing strip from the house number, and stick to your front door, rubbing out any remaining pencil lines.
How to fit a letter plate
It is important to ensure that when fitting a letter plate, that it is are installed correctly. If there are any gaps around a letter plate fitting, it could allow water to enter your property.

How to fit a doorbell
If you would like to fit a battery powered doorbell, many will come with a self-adhesive backing, making it easy to stick onto the outside of your front door. Ensure to put the receiver somewhere in your home where you will hear it clearly, such as your living room or hallway.
If you would like to fit a hard-wired doorbell, you will need to contact a qualified electrician to install this safely for you.
