Fitting floor coverings is a skill and we would recommend using a professional carpet or flooring fitter where possible. However, if you need to adjust doors and skirting boards to fit flooring, read our tips below.
Adjusting doors
Fire doors
All flats will have fire doors which should only be adjusted by a professional to prevent the property from being compromised if a fire was to occur. If a fire door in your flat needs adjusting, you can report this via our repair appointment form, or by calling us on 01225 715 715.
General internal doors
If your door is sticking to newly laid flooring or carpet, simply unscrew and take the door off its hinges and sand the bottom of the door evenly until it fits correctly. Please note, if your interior doors are hollow, you will not be able to take more than 1cm off the bottom.
