Selwood Housing resident Mark Walker has been working hard to grow fruits and vegetables at Kingswood Chase community garden in Studley Green, Trowbridge for the last 20+ years. Now, with the support of Trowbridge Future, the ‘grow for it’ gardening club is looking to ‘grow’ its volunteer numbers.
Zoe Meaden, community manager at Trowbridge Future, shares:
“Working with the local volunteers, we’re looking to regenerate this space and make it available to the wider community. Local residents can get involved to grow fresh produce for themselves and to engage with others in the community to build community spirit.”
Trowbridge Future is a small, independent Wiltshire charity supporting people in the community of Trowbridge, with a particular focus on Longfield, Seymour and Studley Green.
Selwood Housing Group has funded Trowbridge Future with £30,000 over three years, to support more of its resident-led activities, alongside Trowbridge Future projects such as the kindness café and community fridges, with the aim to improve places and spaces that matter to our communities.
The Kingswood Chase community garden is a great example of this in action. Currently running with two volunteers, the club is seeking a further 4-6 volunteers to keep the place tidy and maintain the vegetable/flower beds.
