Selwood Housing has been awarded provisional funding of £2.5 million from the government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund to improve the energy efficiency of its homes, reduce carbon emissions and help tackle fuel poverty.
With our additional match-funding of £2.5 million, we’ll be able to provide energy upgrades to a further 240 customer homes, continuing our improvements programme to retrofit our least energy efficient properties over the next 3 years.
Verena Buchanan, Group Operations Director at Selwood Housing said:
We welcome this funding which provides crucial energy efficiency investment to help us build on the success of our retrofit programme, making customer homes warmer, healthier and more affordable to heat.
Our energy improvement programme began in 2023 following the award of £1.4 million in an earlier wave of the government fund, which Selwood Housing co-funded with a £4.3 million investment.
A ‘fabric first’ approach means that we maximise the energy efficiency of our homes through heat conservation techniques. We aim to bring these homes up to at least EPC ‘C’ and ensure we’re on track to meet our band ‘C’ target for all our homes by 2030.
We have already successfully upgraded 145 bungalows with energy efficiency works including loft top-ups, insulation of loft space at eaves, extraction and refill of failed cavity wall insulation, photovoltaic panels installation and high heat retention heaters. Feedback from customers living in these homes has been incredibly positive thanks to reduced bills and warmer homes. Upgrades to a further 80 customer homes are scheduled across 2024/25.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will deliver up to £1.29 billion of funding to 144 projects across England as part of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3.
