With thanks to the Stronger Communities Fund at Selwood Housing and Trowbridge Area Board funding, we are delighted to have been able to create a Montessori style area for our children, where we can provide specific early reading resources in a safe outdoor space.
The new space includes an area where they can play, a reading corner that uses natural colours and resources and a calm and stimulating environment for our children that encourages speech and language development, helping those who are delayed catching up with their peers.
YMCA Little Shoots nursery is situated on the Longfield estate in Trowbridge. The site is also home to Willowbrook Primary School and Stepping Stones District Specialist Centre (an Early Years specialist provision for children with additional needs).
Nursery Manager, Kaylea said:
We reach out to the most disadvantaged families in Wiltshire by supporting communities where many families are deprived and others that have hidden pockets of deprivation. There are also a high number of children with special educational needs and a high take-up of two-year-old funding which supports low income, special educational needs and deprivation.
Our objective is to give all children the best possible start in life and to provide them with high quality, early education. We aim to help them catch-up with their development during their time with us, and to be ready for school, to continue their educational journey.
Our new amazing space provides the best opportunities for our children to make progress with their learning and to enjoy the very best of days.
